Weekly Wishes #3

28/07/2014 by Jamie 10 Comments

Weekly Wishes

I’m linking up with the Weekly Wishes series and I’m excited to get stuff done this week!

Last Week’s Wishes:

1. Back up iTunes and iPhoto to both my HDs. I did it! I did it! I also got travel cases for both my hard drives. I’m thinking I’ll keep one with me during the move and the other with our stuff that the movers pack and move.

2. Read “In the Neighborhood” for my class. I read it all and it was great. I wrote a book review that hopefully I’ll post later this week.

3. Do yoga at least once this week. I did this too! Only for about 15 minutes. It’s certainly not the same doing it in my bedroom on my yoga mat compared with a calming yoga class… but I could get used to it :)

This Week’s Wishes:

1. Write a final paper. I have one more paper to write for my last summer class!

2. Donate the baby/toddler clothes. I am probably taking these to the homeless shelter, but possibly to friends that might need them.

3. Do yoga TWICE this week. Yep, I’m upping the ante. I just need to start making it a habit!

Ok that’s all I have on this beautiful Monday!

Do you have any goals or wishes for the week?!

Mommy Moments This Weekend

27/07/2014 by Jamie 11 Comments

IMG_8200 1. We couldn’t find matching shoes, but sometimes you just need to go go go!

2. I found a hot wheels airplane in the washer.

3. Before nap time today we were lying on my bed. I was reading and holding my little boy’s hand while he watched Daniel Tiger. I couldn’t take notes in the margin because he wouldn’t let go of my hand, squeezing it tightly to his chest.

4. I got jumped on, my head whacked, cried at, cried on, and begged to sing one more song at bed time. And I couldn’t leave because he kept saying, Don’t leave me, mama.

5. While cuddling with him and enjoying his little hands resting on my arm, my mind wandered to a time in the future when he won’t want cuddles or songs or toy airplanes in his pockets, and I felt grateful.

It was a good weekend.

Weekly Wishes #2

Weekly Wishes

I’m linking up with the Weekly Wishes series and I’m excited to get stuff done this week!

Last Week’s Wishes:

1. Back up iTunes and iPhoto to both my HDs. I didn’t even attempt this – FAIL!

2. Drop off old clothes at the thrift store. I did it! Plus I went through baby/toddler clothes and I have 2 more bags full to drop off.

3. Write 2 book responses. Done!

This week I should have plenty of time to get stuff done – last week was crazy busy!

This Week’s Wishes:

1. Back up iTunes and iPhoto to both my HDs. Let’s try this one again… I should have time to let my computer work on this while I do #2…

2. Read “In the Neighborhood” for my class. It’s a memoir and it’s not too long, so hopefully it will be a fun read.

3. Do yoga at least once this week. I haven’t done it in FOREVER and I love it. I feel like this is a totally reachable goal – just once!

Ok that’s it for this week! What are YOUR goals and wishes for the week?!

Check out my post from last week on our trip to the San Diego Zoo! I’m giving away 2 subscriptions to National Geographic!

San Diego Zoo

19/07/2014 by Jamie 22 Comments

DSC_0865_optIn March 2012 our family had the pleasure of visiting the San Diego Zoo. That facility is incredible! Huge enclosures, beautiful weather, every cool animal I could dream of seeing in person. The park has trees that provide shade while exploring and each exhibit is designed in a way to be as close as possible to the animals while keeping everyone safe. We learned so much and had a great time!

This mama chimpanzee was staring at my son through the glass and the crowd kept saying “Aww the mama likes the baby!” It was pretty cute, she was clearly interested and followed his movements for about 5 minutes.

Even the giraffes posed in beautiful lines! I think I was just as delighted as my son was with all the animals.

Rhinos are so funny when you are one year old and have only seen them in books before!

DSC_0840_optWe had a really great time and I hope we can go back one day! This book became one of our nightly favorites for almost a year.

Have you ever been to the San Diego Zoo? What is your favorite zoo?
